Judafest is the biggest Jewish community festival in Hungary. We started in 2008, and every year we had more and more people come and participate, Jews and non-Jews alike. Last year we had more than 10 000 people attend our events, and come to the street festival. It was heartwarming to see when big crowds came to enjoy Jewish culture, and meet our thriving community.
This year we cannot celebrate the way we used to. We do not want to risk the health and well-being of our community, or anyone who is interested in being part of Judafest. Instead, we provide other kinds of engagements, programs we can offer in a safe and secure way. The 13th Judafest will happen mostly in the online space, and some programs with limited numbers (20 people) in open air. We have 34 programs, with 25 partners, lasting 4 days.
This year we also provide programs in English, so that we can bring Hungarian Jewish culture to your homes. Join us on these events, as we explore the story of Theodor Herzl who was born in Budapest 160 years ago, or come and discover with us some amazing Hungarian synagouges.
